POS hardware buying guide: tablet, printer, scanner, and scale for your store

Partager l'article

The most common question we get from new store owners: "what exactly do I need to buy to run Ttakka?" — the answer varies a bit by business type, but there are roughly four core categories almost every store needs.

1. Tablet: the heart of the cashier

The cashier itself runs on a tablet (Android or iOS). If your store is small and simple, a mid-range tablet is enough. If you have high traffic and more than one cashier, a tablet with a stronger processor and more memory keeps the screen fast all day.

2. Receipt printer

A thermal printer (58mm or 80mm) connected via Bluetooth or network (LAN) — Ttakka supports both. The key difference: a network printer is more stable if you have more than one cashier on the same printer, while a Bluetooth printer is easier to move around if your cashier isn't fixed in place.

3. Barcode scanner

If your store carries a large number of SKUs (supermarket, pharmacy, electronics, fashion), a USB or Bluetooth barcode scanner saves significant time on every sale. A simple wired scanner is enough for most stores; a wireless one helps if you need to move between shelves.

4. Scale: if you sell by weight

Butchers, supermarkets, and produce stores enter the weight manually from the cashier screen today; direct scale connection into the cashier is coming in the next update. After researching and comparing prices in the Egyptian market, the Ttakka team recommends a 30kg-capacity scale as a practical, reliable choice for most stores. See the recommended scale's details for specs and pricing.

You don't need to buy everything on day one

If you're just starting out, begin with a tablet and a printer only — that's enough to run the cashier and print receipts. Add the scanner once your SKU count grows, and add the scale once you start selling by weight. Ttakka is designed to work with any combination of this hardware based on your needs.
