A Full Day at Am Sayed's Butcher Shop: Opening the Shift, Selling, and Closing with One Report
Am Sayed opens his butcher shop in Shubra, Cairo, at six in the morning, and since his shop stays open until close to midnight, he always worried that invoice numbers would suddenly reset at 12am and throw off his day's accounting.
The problem: a workday that doesn't end at midnight
Before TtaKkaa, if Am Sayed sold something after midnight, the invoice would restart at number 1, which confused the sales report and made closing the day's accounts hard to reconcile.
Opening the morning shift
Am Sayed starts his day by opening a shift on the TtaKkaa cashier, setting the opening cash balance in the drawer. From that moment, every sale or refund is recorded under that shift until he closes it.
Selling all day without the numbering resetting after midnight
TtaKkaa uses a configurable business-day cutoff hour (default 4am), so any sale after midnight and before that hour still counts toward the previous business day — invoice numbering continues without a break, and the Z report stays accurate.
When a customer asks for a refund after the kitchen started prepping
If a refund or cancellation happens after an item has started being prepared, a regular cashier alone can't process it — a manager or an employee with refund permission must enter their PIN for the action to be recorded under their name, which prevents unreviewed cancellations.
Closing the day with a clear Z report
At the end of the day, Am Sayed closes the shift and checks the Z report: opening balance + cash sales - cash refunds + any deposits - any withdrawals = expected cash in the drawer. Cancelled and refunded sales are excluded from the calculation from the start, so there's no strange gap at the end of the day.
The numbers, honestly
Instead of facing a strange cash gap at the end of the month with no idea why, Am Sayed now has a clear daily report showing exactly where any gap is, and who approved any refund.

If my shop is open past midnight, do invoice numbers reset at 12am?
No. TtaKkaa uses a configurable business-day cutoff hour (default 4am), so any sale before that hour counts toward the previous business day — invoice numbering and the Z report stay intact.
Who can approve a refund or cancellation once the kitchen has started prepping?
A manager or an employee with refund/void permission must enter their PIN for the action to go through — a regular cashier can't do it alone.
How does the Z report calculate cash if there were refunds that day?
The Z report excludes cancelled and refunded sales from the cash calculation, and expected cash = opening balance + cash sales - cash refunds + deposits - withdrawals.
