How to Sell by Barcode Step by Step on TtaKkaa's Cashier
Selling by barcode is the fastest way to get customers through the line during busy times, but a lot of shop owners only use a small part of this feature. This guide walks through the full process, from scanning the product to printing the receipt.
Step 1: Make sure products have barcodes
Before you start selling, every product needs a barcode registered in the catalog. Factory products (like canned goods and drinks) usually come with a ready barcode, which you enter into the product's details on the store dashboard.
Step 2: Products without a ready barcode
If you have a product with no factory barcode (like a locally made product or something you package yourself), you can generate an internal, store-specific barcode from the product screen, and print a barcode label to stick on the product.
Step 3: Selling from the cashier
At sale time, the steps are simple:
- Scan the barcode with a scanner connected to the cashier, or enter the number manually if no scanner is available.
- The product is added to the invoice automatically at its correct price.
- If the product has options (size, color), the barcode automatically identifies the right option if each option has its own barcode.
- Continue with the rest of the products the same way, and complete the payment.
If the barcode isn't in the catalog
If you scan a barcode the system doesn't recognize, the cashier shows a clear message instead of staying silent or giving a confusing error. You can add the product right away from the same screen without halting the sale entirely.
Tip: test your barcodes before opening
Before opening day, scan a sample of your products to confirm every barcode works correctly, especially if you imported a large catalog from a spreadsheet at once.

If a scanned barcode isn't found in the catalog, what do I do?
The cashier shows a clear message that the barcode isn't registered, and you can add the product right away from the same screen or from the store dashboard.
Can I sell by barcode without an external scanner?
Yes, you can type the barcode number manually from the keyboard if no scanner is available, but a barcode scanner makes selling much faster during busy times.
Does the barcode differ if the product has multiple sizes or colors?
Yes, each option (size or color) can have its own independent barcode, so scanning automatically picks the right option without the cashier having to ask the customer.
