Dr. Kareem's Pharmacy: Closing a Shift in Two Minutes Instead of Half an Hour

Dr. Kareem runs Al Shefaa Pharmacy in Nasr City on two shifts: morning and evening. Every day, when a shift ended, half an hour or more would go by while he tried to figure out exactly how much the outgoing pharmacist sold, how much was cash versus card, so he could hand over the cash drawer correctly to the next shift.

The problem: every shift was its own puzzle

Before TtaKkaa, Dr. Kareem relied on a sales notebook and scattered paper receipts. When the morning pharmacist handed over, he'd have to gather every receipt, separate cash from card, and figure out any difference between what was in the drawer and what should be there. In the end, it was hard to see each shift's performance on its own to compare them or know who was selling more.

How TtaKkaa's shift system fixed it

With TtaKkaa, each pharmacist opens a shift under their own name from the cashier screen, and everything gets logged under that shift: every invoice, every payment method, any discount or refund. When the shift ends, the pharmacist taps "Close Shift" and the system shows:

  1. Total cash sales.
  2. Total card sales.
  3. Any discounts or refunds and the reason for each.
  4. Any difference between the expected cash and the actual cash in the drawer.

All of it on one screen, in under two minutes, without Dr. Kareem having to collect paper or review scattered receipts.

One business day, even when the pharmacy runs 24 hours

Dr. Kareem's pharmacy stays open until 2 a.m., which used to cause confusion: sales after midnight were wrongly counted toward the next day. TtaKkaa lets him set a fixed business-day cutoff hour (e.g. 4 a.m.), so every invoice between midnight and 4 a.m. still counts toward the previous business day, not the new one.

The daily closing report (Z Report)

At the end of the day, the Z Report rolls up every shift worked during the whole business day, and shows a sequential invoice number with no gaps, so he can review any day at any time and be sure no invoice was deleted or changed without a trace.

The numbers, honestly

Instead of a shift handover taking half an hour while customers wait, it now takes exactly two minutes. And instead of Dr. Kareem discovering a cash discrepancy at the end of the week with no idea why, he now sees it (if it happens) the same day it occurred, for a specific shift and a specific pharmacist.

A welcome bonus for new customers

Dr. Kareem also started using TtaKkaa's new-customer welcome bonus, so every new customer who signs up gets welcome points that encourage them to come back — with no extra effort from the pharmacist.

If your pharmacy runs two shifts or more

If your pharmacy runs more than one shift a day, TtaKkaa's shift and closing-report system gives you a clear view of each shift on its own, and the whole day together. You can also make sure your branch's cash drawer is reconciled with TtaKkaa's branch treasury guide.

Frequently asked questions

What's the difference between closing a shift and the daily closing report (Z Report)?

A shift closes every time a pharmacist hands over the counter (e.g. morning to evening), and shows only that shift's sales. The daily Z Report rolls up every shift in the whole business day, based on the cutoff hour you set.

If the pharmacy is open 24 hours, when does the business day end?

You can set a fixed cutoff hour for the business day (e.g. 4 a.m.), and every invoice after that hour counts toward the new business day, even if the pharmacy never closes.

Does the closing report show each pharmacist's own numbers?

Yes, you can see each pharmacist's sales separately, plus the shift's total cash, card, and any discounts or refunds that happened.
